This week's work requires Media Factsheet #69: Music Video. You'll need to log in to Google using your Greenford Google account to access this. Read the factsheet and answer the following 10 questions:

3) Which three major record labels are behind VEVO? What is VEVO and why was it created?

Abu Dhabi Media, Universal Music Group, and Sony Music Entertainment. A website dedicated to hosting music videos is called Vevo. In the UK, Vevo's content is syndicated to Youtube, where Google and Youtube profit from advertising by sending people to the official music videos rather than those posted by a third party.


4) What are the key conventions of a music video?

The key conventions of a music video include synchronized visuals with the song's audio, performance shots, narrative or thematic elements, and stylistic editing techniques to create an engaging and visually appealing audio-visual experience.

5) How can narrative be used in music video? Give an example of a music video that uses a narrative.

Narrative in a music video can be used to tell a cohesive story that complements the song's lyrics or themes, creating a deeper emotional connection with the audience. For example, old town road.

6) What examples are provided in the factsheet for intertextuality in music videos?

that the Back Street Boys and Christina Aguilera videos are mentioned in the Blink 182 song "All the Small Things" by a scene duplicate/copying.

7) Why do audiences enjoy intertextual references in media products?

Audiences enjoy intertextual references in media products because they add depth, nostalgia, and a sense of connection, rewarding those who recognize and engage with the references while enriching the overall viewing or listening experience.

9) Watch the video for Ice Cube's It Was A Good Day (1993). How did this video set the conventions for later hip-hop music videos?
